Ahh yes CEU points or their misunderstanding, yes this thread is off topic way off topic but still burns inside me.

I no longer run courses due to a change in CEU or POLICY, not that I ever thought it was for the best.

Associations.

You need to teach infection control for 20 hours.
ME: They've already done that, why teach it again?

You need to teach anatomy to make sure they know it.
ME: They've already done that, why teach it again?

You need to teach physiology as they need to know it.
ME: They've already done that, why teach it again? Why is it clinically relevant?

You the associations you know who you are, I know who you i know who wanted me shut down, tried to shut me down, you did it it well done, I walked away, I was told exactly who did it, connections are a wonderful thing, whatever, what do you have now 20 hour prac courses with lots of theory how does that improve practical outcomes????

No, not a Pan association.
Just ONE associatioin.

I haven't been given a single rational reason why we need more than one association. But many for why we only need one.

So how do you change the system? A pan association "college" that covers all bodywork and massage practice, similar to something like the College of Massage Therapists Ontario (see http://www.cmto.com/)

Nudenut, many people feeling your pain. When a system is developed and then fails, you need to develop another system. Liberals lost an election over it. Only problem is, we don't vote on a number of parties to lead our industry, we simply hope they do their best to develop a solid future for our industry. We have little choice.

So we need the current bodies to look at the short falls of the schooling system and rectify them. Well at least alter them for the better and hope they rectify them.

These issues need to be raised before they become an association concern however. Raise them!

And I suspect you seriously need to be.

You've got it. The problem is the system, not the associations.

The associations can't (and don't have the ability or power to) police the private or public colleges anymore. Quality assurance, from what I understand, is in the hands of the government.

They can't even reject the dodgy (via correspondance) ones if they are delivering a HLT qualification in massage. Pre HLT they could have chosen not to accredit them: now that the health fund recognition is tied into HLT quals rather than association endorsement, for an association to reject any one RTO would lead to a Fair Trading case.

Well said.

We are on the same page on this one. Bring on more dialogue and co-operation between the associations.

The true winner in that situation would be the industry.
